Study material is one of the best features of LSODL. To facilitate self-study for the students enrolled in the programmes, the school may provide comprehensive Study Material to the students.
Apart from Study Material, it may provide e-Books to the students for select courses.
e-Books are provided for web-based study, to facilitate those students who prefer to study on their computer rather than from printed material.

ACTIVELY OPERATIONAL E-LEARNING PORTAL
LSODL's e-Learning Portal is a software application used to plan, implement and assess a specific learning process for delivering, tracking and managing education. It is also used to automate record-keeping by registering students for relevant programmes and courses. It enhances and supports classroom teaching and offering courses to a larger population of learners across the globe.
The e-Learning Portal caters to different educational, academics and administrative requirements. Virtual learning environment (through chat sessions and discussion forum) meets unique needs and allows the instructors to exchange information with students for a course to build knowledge progressively.
Students enrolled under distance education mode of LSODL may be allotted a personalized User ID and Password through which they can access various interactive and dynamic features of the e-Learning portal, which may include, Online Academic Resources, Online Evaluation, Online Mentoring, and Online Administrative Facilitation.

Online Academic Information and Resources are made available to facilitate extended learning for the students. These may include:

ONLINE EVALUATION
Online Tests are conducted every semester to evaluate the students' performance. These tests contribute towards the Continuous Assessment of the students. Students need not come to the Campus for appearing for the Online Tests. They can appear for these tests from anywhere. Online Tests have Objective questions, yet they test the understanding of the students about the respective courses. The result of the Online Tests is declared at the end of the test, providing students with the assessment within few moments of their performance.

Announcements: Announcements is a tool which is useful to convey important information to the students regarding their assignments, contact class schedule, examination schedule, re-registration, or any other information that may be required to be conveyed to the students during a term. This tool keeps the students updated at all times.

My Account Section: This facility may be provided to the students to have an access to their personal profile, contact details, employment details and result etc. With the help of this section, students can cross verify their information provided in the university and can request for the rectification & updation of the same, for purpose of keeping their up-to-date information in the University.
Email: Email facility may also be provided to the students for interacting with the administrative staff, on issues related to contact classes, study material, assignments, examination, students facilities, etc.

ONLINE MENTORING

This tool is useful when a student may wish to interact with the faculty members by exchanging written messages in real-time, for which both the students and the faculty members need to log on at a pre-scheduled time.

Discussion Forum
Discussion Forum is a platform that allows discussion on various academic issues. Students and faculty members participate in the various discussions that may be initiated by any student/ faculty member. This feature provides healthy discussion among all, even though they are not present face-to-face with each other. The students can write in their queries in the forum under a specific subject category. The faculty members and other students can reply to the queries posted by different students to the forum.

Email
Email facility provides the students with an access to the faculty. Course wise email IDs are created for the academic integration of the student related to a particular course. This feature is especially helpful to those students who do not avail the Contact Classes facility. Through this facility, they can clarify their course related doubts, seek guidance and interact with the faculty members for various academic issues.
